Issued from 1944 right the way through till the end of the 60’s, the N-1 deck jacket has become an enduring piece of work-wear style, it’s functional and simple design making it a favourite for post war bikers and hot-rod owners alike and being worn by the likes of James Dean and Paul Newman has entrenched it in understated cool.
Originally being part of a three-piece set consisting of a jacket, dungarees & hat all made from the same ‘Jungle Cloth’ windproof and water resistant Bedford cord shell and double faced Alpaca lining, they were made for working above deck in exceedingly harsh weather conditions at sea. Buzz Rickson make a superbly detailed reproduction of the 1947 issued version, with the correct weight double-faced Jungle-Cloth outer shell and woven Alpaca/wool blended lining, and faithfully reproduced components such as period correct zips and buttons.
Exact copy of the original DEMOTEX-ED moth-proofing labels often found on the alpaca linings of vintage jackets have been reproduced using vintage shuttle looms
